Yes, CHI is mineable via two algorithms: SHA-256d and a Neoscrypt variant. The block rewards are split, with 25% allocated to SHA-256d miners and 75% to Neoscrypt miners. This structure aims to combine the high security of SHA-256d with the wider distribution offered by Neoscrypt.
The SHA-256d component is merge-mined with Bitcoin (or other SHA-256d coins), leveraging a substantial portion of Bitcoin’s hashing power. Meanwhile, the Neoscrypt component is mined using GPUs, either individually or through mining pools.
A CHI burn occurs when coins are transferred to an output that is provably unspendable. For instance, within Xaya’s Taurion game, the in-game currency known as cubits can only be acquired by burning CHI.

By allowing Bitcoin and other SHA-256d miners to mine CHI at virtually no extra cost, merged mining leverages their immense hashing power to provide strong security. Even if an adversary controlled 100% of the Neoscrypt hashrate, they would still be unable to surpass the computational work contributed by the SHA-256d miners.
Meanwhile, independent Neoscrypt mining helps distribute CHI coins more widely among the community. This dual-algorithm approach also enhances the network's resilience against potential stalls.
