Cryptopedia - Silver (Grams)
Introduced in November 2022, the Gram Silver Token (GRAMS) is an asset-backed digital token that can be redeemed at a 1:1 rate for 1 gram of silver. Token Teknoloji Anonim Şirketi issues this token, ensuring it is fully collateralized by physical silver held in the company’s reserves and indexed to silver prices. For every GRAMS minted, an equal amount of physical silver is stored as backing.
This token offers global users a secure, fast, and cost-efficient way to hold direct ownership of silver without storage fees. It allows for 24/7 transfers across geographical borders and imposes no minimum transaction limits, unlike traditional silver markets.
GRAMS operates on the Avalanche C-Chain and Polygon blockchain, making it compatible with any EVM-supported wallet. Smart contracts automate the collateral management process. As institutional demand rises, Token Teknoloji Anonim Şirketi plans to add corresponding physical silver grams to its reserves to maintain the 1:1 ratio and balance supply with demand. Additionally, the smart contract includes a burn function to remove specific amounts of GRAMS from circulation when necessary. This mint-and-burn system aims to keep the price of GRAMS in equilibrium with the value of physical silver.
