Cryptopedia - JPY Coin (jpyc.co.jp)
JPYC is a stablecoin pegged to the Japanese Yen, issued by JPYC Inc., a firm based in Tokyo. The company is registered as a Fund Transfer Service Provider (Kanto Local Finance Bureau Director No. 00099) under Japanese regulations. Officially launched on October 27, 2025, JPYC functions as a compliant "Electronic Payment Instrument" (Denshi Kessai Shudan) in accordance with Japan's Payment Services Act. The token is engineered to hold a 1:1 value ratio with the Japanese Yen.
To ensure stability, JPYC is fully collateralized. JPYC Inc. holds assets worth 100% or more of the circulating JPYC supply entirely in Japanese Yen, mainly using segregated bank deposits and Japanese government bonds. This reserve setup guarantees that every JPYC token can be redeemed for 1 JPY, according to the platform's terms.
Issuance and redemption occur through an official platform called "JPYC EX." Participation requires identity verification (KYC) mandated by Japan's Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds, which JPYC Inc. supports via Japan's public personal identification system (JPKI). For issuance, verified users reserve an amount on JPYC EX and deposit the equivalent Japanese Yen via bank transfer. JPYC Inc. then mints and sends the JPYC to the user's registered wallet. Redemption is the reverse: users apply on JPYC EX, send their JPYC to a specific blockchain address, and JPYC Inc. transfers the corresponding Japanese Yen to the user's pre-registered bank account.
JPYC is a multi-chain asset present on public blockchains such as Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and Kaia, with plans for further expansion. It is positioned as open financial infrastructure, enabling developers and businesses to integrate it for various uses without proprietary merchant contracts. Its utility covers both Web3 and traditional business sectors. Primary use cases include B2C payments (such as e-commerce and retail), B2B settlements, and corporate treasury management. The ecosystem features integrations with Web3 wallets, SaaS platforms, creator economy payout systems, and accounting tools.
