Cryptopedia - Moss Carbon Credit
MOSS aims to foster environmental preservation via a market-driven solution that utilizes MCO2 tokens to democratize and develop the carbon credit market. To facilitate this, MOSS purchases carbon credits from high-quality Amazon Forest projects that avoid or capture CO2 emissions. These projects emit, certify, and sell the credits. Moss enables individuals and companies to purchase these credits on its 100% digital platform, using blockchain to make a historically complex process transparent and simple.
Global institutions such as VCS Standard, Social Carbon, and CCB Standards certify the credits, providing credibility and guaranteeing that one ton of carbon equivalent emissions was avoided in a certain year. Furthermore, the credits are encrypted on the blockchain to prevent duplicate sales. Buyers can use these credits to neutralize their carbon footprint.
MOSS’s mission is to preserve the Amazon Forest and combat climate change. In just one year since its founding, MOSS has traded more than 1.3 million carbon credits and indirectly preserved 1MM ha of the Amazon forest (equivalent to the size of Lebanon).
In 2020, the company completed a seed round and is now completing a series A round with several of the most prestigious C-level executives, company owners, and sustainability authorities in Brazil. It managed to secure carbon contracts for the next 4 years (20mm tons, 4x Brazil's annual supply).
Additionally, MOSS conducted the largest digital asset listing in Latam history and became the first south american crypto asset to be listed on Gemini and Coinbase.
