Cryptopedia - Immunefi
Immunefi functions as a Web3 cybersecurity platform that assists blockchain protocols across their entire security lifecycle, covering stages from development and testing to live operations and incident response. It links protocol teams with independent security researchers, offering a structured framework to find, verify, and fix vulnerabilities in smart contracts and associated infrastructure.
Immuni Software Pte. Ltd., a company based in Singapore, develops and runs the Immunefi platform. In contrast, the IMU token is managed by the Immunefi Foundation, an independent body tasked with handling token-related initiatives and ecosystem incentives. The platform and the token remain separate entities: the operating company provides security services, while the Foundation oversees token utilities and distributions.
The platform is most recognized for facilitating large-scale bug bounty programs and audit competitions, enabling protocols to hire global security researchers to spot vulnerabilities before exploitation occurs. In addition to crowdsourced security, Immunefi offers a wider range of cybersecurity products and services for live protocol support. These include continuous monitoring and detection, preventive measures like firewall and runtime protection systems, code reviews, and incident response assistance. Collectively, these tools help protocols shift from occasional, point-in-time security checks to ongoing security operations.
The IMU token aims to encourage participation and provide incentives within the Immunefi ecosystem, under the administration of the Immunefi Foundation. Its utilities focus on platform usage and contributing to positive security results.
Immunefi’s long-term goal is to deliver a complete security platform for the onchain economy. This system intends to merge crowdsourced security, continuous monitoring, preventive controls, and coordinated response into one unified solution that supports protocols as they grow and change.
