Cryptopedia - Flux
Flux Oracle serves as the foundation for a decentralized, permissionless infrastructure that handles off-chain data on the blockchain. It is built to be flexible and scalable with economic guarantees, without compromising security.
Validators process and confirm data requests by staking the network’s native asset as collateral. This setup protects the network and makes it hard for bad actors to manipulate data. The system links these incentives to the Total Value Secured (TVS) of the protocol: validators are motivated to act honestly, while malicious behavior is discouraged. To settle a request, validators stake tokens to collect the associated fee. Higher secured value leads to higher fees for validators, whereas lower secured value reduces fees, which lowers the reward for attacks and encourages providers to use the Oracle at a lower cost.
This economic model relies on a variable fee structure that adjusts based on the value locked in the protocol, ensuring validators remain properly incentivized to provide accurate data outcomes.
