Cryptopedia - Diem
Diem (DIEM) converts AI computing power from a rented service into an owned onchain asset, described as tokenized intelligence. Every Diem token stands for $1 per day of Venice API capacity that retains its value indefinitely and does not expire.
These ERC20 tokens operate on Base, allowing users to transfer, trade, and stake them. The only way to mint DIEM is by locking staked VVV (sVVV), which establishes both DIEM and VVV as core assets for onchain AI.
This approach to tokenizing intelligence opens up several opportunities:
- Developers/agents: 1 DIEM provides $1/day of Venice API access permanently
- VVV holders: Convert unused compute into DIEM to earn yield, then repurchase later to release VVV
- Apps: Secure fixed AI costs and guaranteed capacity without fluctuating API fees
- Onchain economy: Enable agents to own their intelligence and use DeFi to collateralize compute
By minting DIEM with VVV, the project introduces a new programmable and composable compute building block for the AI sector.
