Canopy (CNPY) operates on the principle that deploying a blockchain should require no more effort than releasing a standard application. Just as AI-driven coding tools allow developers to create functional apps in one session, Canopy applies this efficiency to blockchain infrastructure. Its framework enables the creation of a sovereign appchain with only about 200 lines of code.
Current blockchain infrastructure lags behind modern software development speeds. Smart contracts are costly and difficult to migrate, while rollups often limit language choices and divert value from builders. Additionally, new chains usually must build security, liquidity, and user bases from scratch. Developed in the United States and launched in Panama, Canopy integrates its framework with a consumer app and a restaking security model, allowing teams to write, launch, and secure an appchain without managing each component individually.
The protocol consists of three parts:
- Canopy Stack: A framework for building appchains using Go, TypeScript, Python, C#, or Kotlin, featuring a reference implementation of roughly 200 lines of code. It supports AI-assisted tools, enabling teams to use standard languages and workflows rather than smart contract-specific ones.
- Canopy Terminal: A web app that includes a bonding curve token launchpad, an automated market maker for in-app trading, a cross-chain block explorer, an on-chain questing platform, and a web wallet.
- Canopy Network: A restaking-based security system allowing validators to secure new appchains using previously staked CNPY, eliminating the need for new chains to recruit their own validators.
Network ActivityAs of June 2026, the Canopy testnet recorded approximately 329,000 registered users and 115,000 on-chain users. It processed 35.4 million cumulative testnet transactions and collected 52.3 million CNPY in testnet fees from trading and launch activities. On May 15, 2026, peak daily active users hit 152,379. The developer community comprises over 15,000 GitHub-verified developers, with an average of 5,000 chains launched daily on the testnet launchpad.
