Cryptopedia - Mitosis
Mitosis functions as a cross-chain DeFi protocol that converts liquidity positions into assets that are both composable and programmable. The project targets two primary inefficiencies within decentralized finance: the illiquid nature of staked assets and the difficulty smaller users face in accessing high-yield opportunities.
Participants deposit tokens into Mitosis Vaults on supported blockchains, receiving representative Hub Assets on the Mitosis Chain in return. These assets can be utilized within two yield frameworks: Ecosystem-Owned Liquidity (EOL) and Matrix. EOL facilitates governance-driven asset allocation, whereas Matrix provides curated liquidity campaigns. Each framework generates specific position tokens, known as miAssets for EOL and maAssets for Matrix.
In contrast to standard DeFi liquidity tokens, Mitosis position tokens serve as programmable components suitable for trading, use as collateral, or restructuring into novel financial products. The underlying infrastructure is designed to support advanced financial engineering and ensure transparent price discovery.
By aggregating liquidity collectively, Mitosis allows users to access preferential yield terms usually limited to institutional participants. Its governance structure enables token holders to engage in capital allocation decisions, promoting a more democratic liquidity ecosystem. Featuring a cross-chain settlement layer and a modular design, Mitosis aims to set a new benchmark for programmable liquidity in DeFi.
