Newton Protocol serves as a decentralized policy layer designed to make onchain compliance automatic, programmable, and verifiable. Developers establish rules that screen every transaction for factors such as identity, risk, or sanctions prior to execution, thereby defining how digital assets are allowed to move.
By encoding compliance, the protocol substitutes manual reviews with real-time, upgradeable enforcement. This allows AI agents, RWA platforms, stablecoin issuers, and financial institutions to satisfy changing regulatory demands at the transaction level while maintaining decentralization, privacy, and transparency.
These builder-defined rules, known as policies, utilize offchain and onchain data to determine if a transaction is blocked or approved. A decentralized operator network, secured by NEWT and Ethereum restaking, assesses each policy within Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) and creates proofs demonstrating correct verification. Anyone can validate these results via the Newton Explorer.
The native utility token, NEWT, is utilized for:
- Fees for compliance compute.
- Rewards for network operators and delegated staking.
- Governance votes that shape the protocol.
