Cryptopedia - USDT.a
ArtaFoundation developed USDT.a, a stablecoin fully collateralized and pegged to the U.S. dollar. A Singapore-based team launched it in July 2025. The token operates on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) using the ART20 standard, a custom framework from ArtaBlockchain designed for efficient, programmable digital assets in decentralized finance (DeFi).
Every USDT.a token is backed 1:1 by traditional USDT (Tether) held in institutional custody, meaning each issued unit matches an equivalent amount of USDT in off-chain reserves. The project aims to improve transparency, programmability, and on-chain usability for fiat-pegged stablecoins. Circulating supply aligns with verified reserves, supported by regular audits and public dashboards.
The ART20 standard enables features like transaction fee delegation, gas optimization, programmable compliance rules, and contract-level permissions. These capabilities reduce friction for smart contract integration and enhance adaptability for institutional use. Additionally, ART20 includes metadata layers that facilitate usage in regulated DeFi settings requiring traceability and permissions.
