Cryptopedia - USAT
USA₮ functions as a stablecoin, existing as digital currency on the internet rather than in physical storage. Its sole design goal is to maintain a value equivalent to one U.S. Dollar at all times.
This token is pegged to the USD at a 1:1 ratio and is 100% fully collateralized by short-term U.S. Treasury Bills. Every USAT token signifies a claim supported by these off-chain Treasuries, ensuring there is no leverage or rehypothecation involved.
Anchorage Digital, a digital asset institution regulated in the United States, serves as the issuer. The operation falls under U.S. jurisdiction and adheres to the GENIUS Act regulatory framework. The structure involves a regulated U.S. entity issuing a token that is fully backed by U.S. Treasuries. Anchorage Digital performs the dual roles of issuer and custodian for the underlying bills while subject to U.S. regulatory supervision. Separate documentation provides periodic attestations and disclosures.
