Polkastarter functions as a decentralized fundraising hub that helps Web3 initiatives launch, secure capital via multi-chain token pools, and expand their user bases. It facilitates initial DEX offerings (IDOs) on several major networks, such as Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana, Polkadot, Polygon, Avalanche, and Celo.

This service is primarily utilized by early-stage blockchain ventures seeking to raise funds and distribute tokens simultaneously, while providing investors with early entry to IDOs, NFTs, and Gaming Web3 developments. Projects can establish fixed-chain swap pools on the platform, allowing for secure fundraising through automated smart contract executions that mitigate risk for users.

POLS serves as the native utility token, granting holders access to pools and enabling projects to prioritize them. Staking POLS is encouraged to reward loyal community members. The platform launched in December 2020 and has rapidly become one of the most frequently used IDO platforms on Ethereum. In Q4 2022, Polkastarter plans to introduce new community utilities, including governance tools and POLS Power Boosters designed to improve allowlisting success rates.

Polkastarter is led by an executive group with more than three decades of collective background in technology companies. The project was co-established by Daniel Stockhaus, Tiago Martins, and Miguel Leite, who serve as CEO, CTO, and COO respectively. They are backed by a staff of over 30 individuals.

Miguel Leite is a repeat entrepreneur and marketing specialist. Following several successful business endeavors, he moved into web3, helping to launch Coinvision and BEPRO Network prior to the industry-shifting debut of Polkastarter.

Daniel Stockhaus is also a serial entrepreneur, recognized for co-founding the prosperous e-commerce company LiGo and the digital growth firm Oliphant Ltd. Before these ventures, he worked as a digital media designer at Fitch and earned a bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies.

Tiago Martins is a former computer science professor and seasoned developer with skills in product development and online education. He additionally co-founded Codeplace, a web-based platform dedicated to teaching web development basics.

Polkastarter positions itself as a distinct option for retail participants in IDOs by capping individual allocation sizes. This approach enables projects to build a broader base of token holders by spreading distribution among many users. As of June 2022, the platform had supported the launch of more than 110 initiatives, covering token sales, NFTs, and metaverse offerings. These projects have collectively raised over $50M, achieving a combined peak market capitalization of $3.2B.

In addition to its launchpad services, Polkastarter operates an internal incubation and advisory program. This initiative leverages insights gained from 110 project launches to support and develop Web3 ventures. The platform also maintains a specialized marketing team comprising over 10 individuals, with expertise in areas such as video production and design.

The core technical feature is a fixed-swap smart contract that lets projects create liquidity pools executing trades at a set price, differing from the AMM structure popularized by Uniswap. Other significant platform attributes include permissionless listings, mechanisms to prevent scams, and integrated KYC processes.

As an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, POLS relies on the security of the Ethereum blockchain. This network is protected by a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism where validators are required to stake 32 Ether. A group of decentralized nodes is responsible for validating transactions and securing the chain.
