KuCoin Token (KCS) serves as the native asset for the KuCoin exchange. Introduced in 2017, it was designed as a profit-sharing instrument enabling traders to derive value from the platform. Initially distributed as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain, it remains compatible with most Ethereum-based wallets. The initial total supply stands at 200 million, with a scheduled buyback and burn mechanism aiming to reduce this figure to 100 million KCS. As KuCoin’s decentralized trading infrastructure launches, KCS is projected to become the primary asset for its decentralized financial offerings and the governance token for the community.
The exchange has stated that “Empowering KCS'' is a central focus, intending to develop it into a comprehensive product rather than a basic token, which should expand the advantages available to holders. Over time, KCS acts as the essential key to the wider KuCoin ecosystem. With the advancement of DEX and KuChain, the token is expected to serve as the fundamental fuel and general currency for upcoming decentralized KuCoin products. Additional information is likely to be published soon.
