The xx network team operates globally with remote and collaborative offices. Its main development hub is in the Cayman Islands, with additional presence in Los Angeles, CA; Alberta, Canada; and various locations across Europe and Asia.
David Chaum, a pioneer in cryptocurrency, founded the xx network development effort. He has led the creation of its privacy-focused technology, specifically cMixx, since 2016.
Recognized as one of the first blockchain researchers, Chaum is a globally known cryptographer and privacy advocate. In 1979, he first introduced a method for metadata protection using mix-cascade networks. His 1982 dissertation at the University of California, Berkeley, marked the first known proposal for a blockchain protocol. Chaum later created eCash, the initial digital currency, and contributed significantly to secure voting systems. Currently, he serves as a visionary leader for xx network, applying his decades of expertise in cryptography and privacy to provide advanced blockchain solutions.
